Walbridge, a leading full-service construction company, has received ISO 14001 certification from NSF, a global services organization, for its environmental management system.

The ISO 14001 standard includes requirements that identify opportunities for continuous improvement to avoid, minimize and reduce environmental impacts across the organization. The standard also enables organizations to set environmental performance targets and demonstrate proactive initiatives from a life-cycle perspective. ISO 14001 is the world’s most recognized environmental management system and supports the environmental pillar of sustainability.

“Earning ISO 14001 certification was a natural progression for us as a long-time ISO 9001 certified company. This certification supports our sustainability goals by providing a framework to minimize our environmental impact and engage our supply chain,” said Walbridge President John Rakolta III. “We are committed to building upon the foundation of our ISO 14001 certification by expanding our environmental management efforts and achieving our broader sustainability goals to drive positive environmental change across our value chain.”

Achieving ISO 14001 certification through NSF, an independent third-party organization, demonstrates Walbridge’s commitment to improving business practices and environmental processes by developing a system that establishes and communicates environmental performance.

“Globally, we are experiencing the ramifications of climate change due to unsustainable practices,” said Sameer Vachani, Senior Director of NSF. “Companies certified to the ISO 14001 standard show they are actively committed to the sustainable management of their business, helping to provide a better world for future generations.”
